Arthur Honegger (10 March 1892 – 27 November 1955) was a Swiss composer, who was born in France and lived a large part of his life in Paris. He was a member of Les Six. His most frequently performed work is probably the orchestral work Pacific 231, which was inspired by the sound of a steam locomotive. His style is weightier and more solemn than that of his colleagues in Les Six.

Serge Baudo (born 16 July 1927, Marseille) is a French conductor, the son of the oboist Étienne Baudo. He is the nephew of the cellist Paul Tortelier. Serge Baudo was one of the leading French conductors of the twentieth century, although he never quite achieved the international celebrity status of Pierre Monteux or even Jean Martinon.

ReplyDeleteCD2-8 is Pastorale d'été, not Mouvement symphonique No. 3.
ReplyDeleteAlso, CD2-9 is Chant de joie, not Prélude pour La Tempête.
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right. The Japanese back cover got me confused, as I assumed these discs have the same content as the ones on Amazon. I've updated the links, with some scans.

ReplyDeleteRonald, I once posted a comment in some other post of yours---I forget where, possibly on the other blog---that was tetchy and irritable. It was because I thought that the link intermediary that you used was trying to plant a EXE or some such file on my computer. I am sorry for being so grumpy about it; I should have been moving more carefully, though I still find myself preferring that these 'middle-man' services not be used. Still, sorry if I was curt or exasperated!
