Reinhold Glière (11 January 1875 [O.S. 30 December 1874] – 23 June 1956) was a Russian composer. Glière studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Sergei Taneyev, Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov, Jan Hřímalý, Anton Arensky and Georgi Conus. His 3rd Symphony 'Ilya Muromets' was premiered in Moscow in 1912, and was widely performed, in Russia and abroad, earning him world-wide renown. Gliere also wrote concerti for harp, coloratura soprano, cello, horn and violin. Nearly unexplored are Glière's educational compositions, chamber works, piano pieces and songs from his time at the Moscow Gnesin School of Music.
