Mélanie Bonis (21 January 1858 – 18 March 1937), was a French late-Romantic composer. Of great talent and musical sensitivity, she taught herself the piano, before attending the Paris Conservatoire, where her teachers included Cesar Franck, Ernest Guiraud, and Auguste Bazille. In the 1890s, her career started to take off. Bonis became a member of the Société des compositeurs de musique, and was a very prolific composer. She wrote more than 300 pieces, including works for piano solo and four hands, organ pieces, chamber music, mélodies, choral music, a mass, and works for orchestra.

Laurent Martin (born 12 September 1945) is a French classical pianist. Martin studied piano with Geneviève Zaigue in Troyes, Joseph Benvenuti at the Conservatoire de Paris, Germaine Audibert in Nice and Pierre Sancan in Paris. He began a career as soloist and chamber musician in 1977, and initially confined to a relatively limited activity. After his first recordings devoted to Charles-Valentin Alkan in 1989-1992, his concerts have continued to develop in Europe until today. Martin is now recognized as a specialist of the little-known French romantic composers. His discography now exceeds 40 recordings.
