Charles O’Brien was born on the 6th October 1882 in Sussex, England, to Edinburgh parents while they were on holiday. He received his first musical education from Thomas Henry Collinson, then followed by a Bachelor of Music degree from Oxford and a Doctorate from Trinity College, Dublin. O’Brien worked in Edinburgh as an organist, conductor, pianist and music teacher. He was conductor of the Edinburgh Choral Union, Director of Music at the Royal Blind School, and Music Master of St. Serf's School. As a composer, O'Brien had a romantic style and his works were steeped in Scottish themes. He died on the 27th June 1968.

Warren Mailley-Smith studied with Peter Feuchtwanger, Ronald Smith and John Barstow at The Royal College Of Music. He has given acclaimed solo recitals at The Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and has performed for the British Royal Family on numerous occasions. In 2016 he became the first British pianist to perform Chopin’s complete works for solo piano from memory in a series of 11 recitals at St John’s Smith Square. During the Coronavirus Pandemic he performed over 80 online solo concerts, with over 120 works. His career has taken him all over the world, with solo performances in Australia, Europe, China and the USA.
