Giacomo Puccini (22 December 1858 – 29 November 1924) was an Italian composer. Regarded as the greatest and most successful proponent of Italian opera after Verdi, he was descended from a long line of composers, stemming from the late-Baroque era. Though his early work was firmly rooted in traditional late-19th-century Romantic Italian opera, he later developed his work in the realistic verismo style, of which he became one of the leading exponents. His most renowned works - La bohème, Tosca, Madama Butterfly and Turandot - are among the most frequently performed and recorded of all operas.

Beatrice Venezi studied piano, composition and conducting at the Milan Conservatory of Music "Giuseppe Verdi". She has collaborated with internationally renowned performers and ensembles in over 160 symphony concerts and 50 opera performances. Venezi is currently Advisor to the Italian Minister of Culture for Music, as well as Artistic Director of the Taormina Arte Foundation at the Ancient Theatre of Taormina. She has received various awards during her precocious career, including the historic Scala d'Oro Award, the Pegaso Award, the Kinéo Award and the Gentile da Fabriano Award.
