  2. Since there is no review (yet) on this CD I would like to give my two cents on it. Surely none of the works here are "masterworks", but they are presented in the best possible way. The performances of the sonatas by Lalo and Pierné are at least as good as those that I have listened to before. But what really struck me is the performance of the Koechlin sonata. This is a work almost impossible to pull off. There is very little variation in mood or tempo, and the sonata comes easily across as just glum and dreary. Admittedly, Koechlin was also a specialist in wind instruments rather than the strings. But, as interpreted by Tarasova, this sonata starts to make sense and becomes eminently listenable.
Marina Tarasova also comes across as a discovery. Although in her 60s, I think it is fair to say that she will only be know to specialists. Probably undeservedly so, if we go by the evidence on this disc.
Thanks for the great music, Ronald!
