Stéphan Elmas (1862 – August 11, 1937) was an Armenian composer, pianist and teacher. A child prodigy, he studied in Vienna with Anton Door and Franz Krenn. A highly successful recital in Vienna’s Bösendorfer-Saal in 1887 followed by a busy concert schedule, with Elmas scoring artistic triumphs in France, England, Germany, Austria and Italy. He mostly programmed his own works, which were composed rapidly and with great ease, as well as works by Beethoven, Chopin and Schumann. Recently, the composer’s works have been experiencing a revival, thanks to the efforts of pianist Armen Babakhanian.

Heghine Rapyan (born April 24, 1985 in Gavar, Armenia) is a pianist of Armenian origin. She is an honours graduate (diploma with distinction) of the “Komitas” State Conservatory in Yerevan, and also studied under Peter Lang and Rolf Plagge at the “Mozarteum” University in Salzburg. She has participated in Masterclasses of such artists as Robert Levin and Ludmil Angelov. Rapyan has given recitals since 2001 in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Greece, Russia, Armenia and Saudi Arabia. She is an award winner of national and international piano competitions in Armenia, Moldavia, Greece and Italy.
