Louise Farrenc (31 May 1804 – 15 September 1875) was a French composer, virtuosa pianist and teacher who enjoyed a considerable reputation during her own lifetime. She was a student of Cecile Soria, a former student of Muzio Clementi, and was given lessons by Ignaz Moscheles and Johann Nepomuk Hummel. Farrenc also studied composition with Anton Reicha at the Conservatoire de Paris. At first, Farrenc wrote exclusively for the piano, but later expanding her range to include chamber music and works for orchestra. Her work includes 49 compositions with opus numbers, including 2 overtures and 3 symphonies.

Agathe Backer-Grøndahl (born Agathe Ursula Backer, 1 December 1847 – 4 June 1907) was a Norwegian pianist and composer. Among her teachers are Theodor Kullak, Hans von Bülow, and Franz Liszt. During the 1870s and the 1880s, she built up an outstanding pianist career with a series of concerts in the Nordic countries, as well as very successful concerts in London and Paris. As a teacher, Backer-Grøndahl was also successful and influential, and played a major role in the period often called the golden age of Norwegian music history. She composed in total some 400 pieces spanning seventy opus numbers.

Luba Timofeyeva (born 7 March 1951) studied at the Central Music School of Moscow and the Tchaikowsky Conservatory. She won the first prize at the Prague International Piano Competition and, at 18, the Grand Prix at the prestigious Long-Thibaud competition in Paris. From that moment on, she began an international career, performing throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, Latin America and Japan. Timofeyeva has made (with Melodia, Ariola, Deutsche Grammophon, Victor) some 38 recordings, amongst which feature all of Chopin's etudes, all 55 Haydn sonatas, and many concertos.
