Vsevolod Zaderatsky (21 December 1891 – 1 February 1953) was a Russian Imperial and Ukrainian Soviet composer, pianist and teacher. He studied music at the Moscow Conservatory, being drafted in 1916 and fighting in World War I. After the war he continued his studies under Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov, and graduated in 1923. For most of his life Zaderatsky was blacklisted because of his participation in the White movement during the Russian Civil War. From 1949 till the end of his life, he lived in Lviv (Ukraine) and worked at Lysenko Musical Academy. His son is a professor of the Moscow Conservatory.

Jascha Nemtsov (born 7th October 1963 in Magadan, Siberia, USSR) is a Russian pianist and musicologist. As a pianist he has recorded more than 30 CDs, featuring numerous world premiere recordings and a vast spectrum of repertoire from Romantic compositions such as Liszt and Raff to music of the New Jewish School, Turkish music (Saygun), Bartok, Shostakovich, Prokofiev and other modern Russian composers. In his scientific works he focuses on Jewish music and Jewish composers of the 20th century, and gives guest lectures and master classes in Europe and North America.
