Signe Lund(15 April 1868 – 6 April 1950) was a Norwegian composer and music teacher. Born in Christiania (now Oslo), she studied with Erika Nilsson, Per Winge and Iver Holter at the Oslo Conservatory of Music, then in Berlin with Wilhelm Berger and also in Copenhagen and Paris. Lund emigrated to the United States about 1900 and took a position teaching in Mayville, North Dakota. She later worked in New York City and Chicago as a performer and lecturer until 1920. Lund returned to Norway after World War II and died in Oslo. As a composer, she composed a number of powerful works for piano.

Rune Alver (b. 1957) was born in Bergen and educated at Bergen Music Conservatory and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Alver has many years of experience performing Grieg’s music at the Edvard Grieg Museum Troldhaugen. He maintains an extensive concert schedule as soloist and chamber musician with performances throughout Europe and in Russia, China and South Africa. Alver collaborates with leading musicians, actors and visual artists in traditional and more experimental contexts. He has recorded a number of critically acclaimed albums for the label LAWO Classics.
