Soghomon Soghomonian, ordained as Komitas (8 October [O.S. 26 September] 1869 – 22 October 1935) was an Armenian priest, musicologist, composer, and choirmaster, who is considered the founder of the Armenian national school of music. He collected and transcribed over 3,000 pieces of Armenian folk music and published a collection of Kurdish folk songs. His choir presented Armenian music in many European cities, earning the praise of Claude Debussy, among other. After the the Armenian Genocide, Komitas suffered from PTSD and spent his last years in psychiatric hospitals in Paris.

Yulia Ayrapetyan (born 1988 in Bryansk, Russia) is a US-based pianist, producer and pedagogue. She studied in Moscow, and continues to uphold the performing traditions of the Russian piano school. Her repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the contemporary and includes rarely performed works by Armenian composers. Ayrapetyan has performed the US, Chinese, Europe, Russian and Armenian premieres of forgotten Armenian piano music, which she rediscovered. She also actively supports and participates in recordings and concerts for her husband Mikael Ayrapetyan’s project, Secrets of Armenia.
