Emilie Mayer (14 May 1812 – 10 April 1883) was a German composer of Romantic music. Mayer began her serious compositional study relatively late in life. In 1841, she started to study composition with Carl Loewe in Stettin (now Szczecin, Poland), and in 1847 moved to Berlin to continue her studies with Adolph Bernhard Marx and Wilhelm Wieprecht. Mayer's music was initially influenced by the Vienna classic style, whilst her later works were more Romantic. She was a prolific composer, producing some 8 symphonies and at least 15 concert overtures, plus numerous chamber works and lieder.

Laura Netzel (1 March 1839 — 10 February 1927) was a Finnish-born Swedish composer, pianist and conductor who sometimes used the pseudonym N. Lago. Born in Rantasalmi, Finland, Netzel studied piano with Mauritz Gisiko and Anton Door, voice with Julius Günther and composition with Wilhelm Heinze in Stockholm and Charles-Marie Widor in France. In recent years, Savon Music Society has undertaken a project to publish works by Laura Netzel and other unknown female composers. Her piano concerto was reconstructed by the pianist Peter Friis Johansson who has since recorded it on the BIS label.

The Swiss flutist Miriam Terragni studied at the Musikhochschule Basel and the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. She is currently principal flutist of the Argovia Philharmonic under the direction of Douglas Bostock. Her work as a solo flutist was influenced by her work with the Orchester Philharmonique Suisse under well-known conductors such as Mario Venzago, Charles Dutoit, Gerd Albrecht and Nello Santi, among others. In addition to her active work in orchestras and as a passionate chamber musician, she teaches at the Laufen, Allschwil, Staufen, Hitzkirch and Reinach music schools.

The Swiss pianist Catherine Sarasin was educated at the Musikhochschulen Basel and Lucerne, where she was influenced the most by the English pianist Hubert Harry. Her interest in lied accompaniment allowed her to continue her studies in the master class for lieder interpretation with Irwin Gage at the Musikhochschule Zürich. She also dealt intensively with the historically informed performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. As a soloist and chamber music partner, Sarasin gives guest performances all over Europe. Various radio and TV productions as well as CDs document her work.
